UK Launch of the Partagas Linea Maestra

Long awaited after their announcement at the 2023 Habanos Festival in Cuba, the Partagas Línea Maestra are finally available in the UK. Following on from the popular Línea 1935 for Montecristo in 2017 and Línea de Oro for Romeo y Julieta in 2020 the Línea Maestra is a premium addition to the Partagas lineup.

The Línea Maestra is comprised of three new sizes; the Origen, Rito and Maestro. All are unique vitolas, and all feature the Cabeza Tumbada or 'dropped head', often referred to as a '109' format after the Partagas 109 cigars rolled in this way, which have featured in commemorative branded humidors in the past. 

When the Partagas E No 2 was launched a larger proportion of tobacco from the San Luis region of Pinar del Rio was used in the blend to add a depth to the flavour being presented in the larger ring gauge 'Duke' vitola. The success of this addition to the blend has been progressed further and for the first time in the history of the brand and the Habanos, S.A. portfolio, all the tobacco for the new Línea comes exclusively from the San Luis region. This blend provides an additional aromatic complexity without losing the brand's unique character and profile, still classified as full bodied like the rest of the portfolio, but with an additional smoothness and decadence. 

The Línea Maestra range is presented in striking blue lacquered boxes containing 20 cigars. Each cigar is dressed with a unique blue band sporting the name of the vitola as well as an additional foot band, ensuring the cigars look as good as they taste. 

Hunters and Frankau held a pre-launch tasting for the Habanos Masters at the newly opened cigar lounge in the Emory hotel. The cigars were well received with our own Luigi commenting 'I liked them, they were good'. On lighting my Rito I was surprised at how light the smoke started, but it quickly grew in strength towards the full body expected from a Partagas. The extra depth from the San Luis tobacco blend gives a smooth and rounded smoking experience, and the premium nature of this line can be felt throughout.
