Davidoff Art Initiative
Davidoff has a long history of commissioning notable artists to create special editions.
Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO Oettinger Davidoff AG – “As a family owned company, headquartered in Basel, Davidoff has a deep commitment to art, culture, and living well. Our desire in supporting these activities goes beyond wanting to expand our company’s cultural programming.
We have a deeper goal, which is to give back to the Dominican Republic, where much of our production and so many of our people are based.
In 2012, Davidoff became an Associate Partner of Art Basel for its shows in Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong. In conjunction with taking that step toward a closer involvement with the world of art, in the same year we also launched the Davidoff Art Initiative.
With this Initiative we hope to bring opportunity and visibility to the art and culture of the Caribbean region, building on our company’s long-standing commitment to artistry, craftsmanship, community and quality.
The Davidoff Art Initiative supports contemporary art and artists in the Caribbean, strengthens art organizations in the Dominican Republic, shares knowledge and expertise about contemporary art, and fosters cultural engagement between the Caribbean and the rest of the world.
We are working toward these goals through four global program areas: the Davidoff Art Residency, Davidoff Art Dialogues, Davidoff Art Grants, and Davidoff Art Editions.
Within the scope of the Davidoff Art Initiative, Davidoff invites contemporary artists from all over the world to create unique works of art that complement its products or its brand. Essentially, this initiative provides important creative voices emerging from the Caribbean a global platform.”
Part of the proceeds from these exclusive editions are dedicated to the Davidoff Art Initiative.
